With cranked up tube amps, a gutsy rhythm section, sneering vocals and noisy tape hiss, “Should’ve Stayed Home” keeps the album’s momentum steaming ahead at all times. On this release, The Yard Apes have nailed the art of mixing their “tongue in cheek” attitude with unrelentingly energetic garage rock. There are songs of varying paces and influences, with mordant themes such as triumphantly quitting your job since your boss is such a jerk, to losing everything the night your wife went home with your best friend. With many other troubling misadventures throughout the record, the songs serve to illustrate more than enough reasons why you should probably just stay indoors.
